It is
with great pride and pleasure that we can announce that
David Baxter-Smith (the Governor) has been presented
with the Worcestershire Ambassadors Pride of
Worcestershire Award 2009 for his work across the
country with PSA testing and Prostate Cancer
awareness. He was presented with it last week at the
Worcester Ambassadors Summer Ball by the Lord Lieutenant
of Worcestershire Michael Brinton. You will all be
encouraged to learn that he accepted the award on behalf
of those men, including his father, who have died from
prostate cancer, who are currently fighting the disease
and who are awaiting results etc to hear if they have
the disease. Not forgetting the men to are going to be
introduced to the concept of PSA awareness in the near
future!!!

320 P.S.A.s at Warwick
yesterday, a Town Hall meeting on Monday with our guest
Tom O'Connor and more P.S.A.s and off to Great Yarmouth
on Tuesday for another P.S.A. testing session where we
expect another 300. We have now done over 10,000
nationwide!
I do have some links to other
interesting sites which I would like to tell you all
about in due course - and I have not forgotten
about the Picture Gallery which will appear on the
website shortly. I will also up-date the website shortly
about the statistics now that we have reached 10,000.

I am hoping to provide some
pictures for the website soon when life quietens down a
little! We have in the last three weeks done
another 1,000 P.S.A. tests and getting all the letters
out has taken up a lot of time. I will also provide the
website with an up-date of the statistics shortly.
We are off to Scotland on Friday for a weeks holiday and
on return have P.S.A. testing sessions at Kidderminster,
Warwick, Great Yarmouth and Bridgnorth.

Life has certainly been
very busy; we have just returned from Hereford where we did 324 PSA
tests and last week we were at Penrith where we did another 420!! So
I now have the best part of 750 letters to get in the post. In all,
we have now done almost 10,000 PSA tests and I hope to have up to
date statistics for the statistics page on the website very soon.
I also hope to start a 'pictures gallery' on the website where we
can display some of the memorable moments we have experienced
together. Also, to let you know that the Bill Beaumont date has
changed, please go to the diary of events page for details.

Firstly, a belated Happy
New Year to you all. It seems ages since last I communicated with
you - I apologise. P.S.A. testing nationwide is now taking up much
of my time. So far we have done almost 7000 such tests and I know of
153 early, and in most cases, curable prostate cancers that we have
found. We have a very full programme for 2009 and the first
Port-of-Call next month will be at Mansfield. I am having some
difficulty trying to attract celebrities to the group but still
working on it and will let you know details for the Diary of Events
as soon as I have them.

I am pleased to
say that Martin Bell, former BBC war correspondent and Independent
Member of Parliament will be speaking in October - go to the diary
pages for details. We have just returned from Wadebridge in Cornwall
where we did another 258 PSA tests. Next week we are off to
Leamington Spa for a similar session. I am working at some more 'celeb'
speakers for the 2009 / 2010 programme and will let you know
through the website when I have confirmations.

It's been a busy few weeks. At Broadstairs we had
about 600 come to the meeting on Prostate Cancer Awareness and 430
of these were men wanting a P.S.A. test which was a little
unfortunate as we only had 400 needles and syringes! Then we had our
Kidderminster meeting at which approximately 500 came and of these
280 wanted a blood test. Nick Owen was the guest speaker and he gave
a very interesting and entertaining talk. This week we have a Golf
Tournament in aid of Prostate Cancer and next week we are off to
Wadebridge where we expect another 300 tests at least.
